Since 2011, a tremendous part of my daily inner work at the intersection of mental health and spiritual sovereignty and my outer work as a recovering public and private educator, founder, spokesperson, staff member, and parent of a paradigm shifting transformational learning community, has resided in fear.
This personal work became more contemplative and observational as we shifted into living through a global pandemic. COVID-19 has brought up issues of anxiety, fear, anger, loneliness and loss of control of our daily lives and routines on both the collective and individual levels. But it has also offered freedom and a pace that so many of us hadn’t realized we had been pining for.
We have been faced with a resurgence of long overdue systems of oppression finally unearthed from plain sight and laid bare, as well as laying a path for the important work of our lives as to how to be an instrumental part of the dismantling and recreation that must happen on a massive scale to ensure we ALL are on the path to liberation. Humans were not made to look out for themselves alone. We are a collective species, and our souls know this to be true. Therefore when we truly know ourselves, which comes with constant work in deconditioning from all authority but our own embodied divinities, we begin to transform into the elders that our vastly changing society needs and deserves. We are the bridge generations who will hold space for and support our living and future descendants at the end of an era we neither ushered forth nor will be able to rectify.
Listening to our own deep connective, knowing more and hearing fear less, is part of our paradigm shifting responsibilities. This business of unearthing how we manage fear and practicing how we can reframe it for ourselves, away from all the outside information constantly offered as subversion from our own deep, intuitive knowing, is the essential personal spiritual work of our time in the New Earth.
As a claircognizant visionary, I offer wisdom from my decade of daily perspective and contemplation on why we as a society are so assimilated into a life of fear, as well as practices that can limit that constant channel set to “breaking news” into which our society expects we all are always tuned.
Observations on Fear
I connect with fear every time I feel him and sense him in others. Each time, I intentionally drop in and meet him face to face. Here is what I have learned from all those years of choosing curiosity around fear. This energy dwells deep at our core, within our DNA, because we needed fear to survive and to evolve into the species of humans we are today. Primordial fear that came with the dawning of our sentience and which over millennia manifested as ancestral trauma passed through our DNA wraps and envelops itself, like a warm, safe blanket, around more modern fears.
Fear is layered in protection at our core. We can further the analogy of protection as a really dark, comforting cave deep within each of us, where fear dwells with an unfettered supply of ancestral trauma to fuel the fire that keeps him content in his cozy abode. He likes to be there, and he knows that we as a species intrinsically know that without him, we probably wouldn’t be where we are today.
When fear comes out to play though, he uses the brain to tag us, which can get confusing because we humans are indoctrinated into the tale that our “advanced brains” give us righteous power over all creatures great and small… But y’all, that’s fear down in his cave at the core of your being, screaming through a bullhorn into your brain that you are “it” and that a saber-tooth tiger is coming to eat you up.
Some of our universal ancestors listened to fear, but they knew how to filter him through their gut, their divine senses, their intuition, and that allowed them to survive and evolve for generations. Some of those ancestors stopped listening through the filter of their intuition and decided to listen directly to fear’s bullhorn echoing around in their brains, which bred the need for “power over” rather than a “collective powerful understanding of all.” And that’s when fear burrowed himself even deeper into our core and began feeding off the power it had manifested in the brains of humans.
That tricked-out tiny cave, where fear lives, has guards posted at the entrance. Fear rarely leaves his comfortable home because we don’t need to take flight that much anymore… But his survival game is strong. In some humans, fear has anger and hatred on guard. That’s when things get scary, right?! Fear loves that!! Fear loves our world right now! Fear owns this society we live in. Every single aspect of it. I bet we all can think of something we fear that brings out anger and hatred right in this very moment… I bet we would argue that the anger we feel has nothing to do with fear. But that is a lie fear is feeding us! Fear is a big fat liar.
Sometimes fear lives out in the open with worry as his guardian. It’s a tricky codependent relationship where worry claims that love is the reason for their incessant need to scream into the bullhorn directly to the brain.
It’s fascinating once you see truly how fear is always at the core. You see how it got us this far in our survival and how it also could be our downfall. It deserves to be acknowledged, and then it needs to be told to have a seat…
So to face one’s own fear guarded by anger and hatred, or with worry as its guardian, we must begin listening to our deeply-rooted fear through the filter of our soul. This is not something happening widely nowadays, but it’s having its moments in some circles and I hope it can have its moment here in our work creating the New Earth. Our triggers are where our soul is waiting for us to get to work. When a trigger alerts us through the emotions of worry, anger, bitterness, frustration and disappointment, that is simply the moment when we begin to face our fear by calling forth our soul’s knowing.
Filtering Fear through our Soul
Connecting into our soul, the deepest and longest existing part of ourselves, is the key to meeting fear and offering it compassionate respite. Lindsay Mack, of Wild Soul Healing, gives the brilliant analogy of radio stations. Radio One is the brain, turned up really loud: think classic rock station. Radio Two is the soul, which can’t be turned up as it’s exactly as it should be heard, quiet and soothing. So we must turn Radio One of the brain down so that we can listen to Radio Two of the soul, whose subtle, intuitive, divinely instinctual and melodious whispers have supported our evolution just as much as fear has. Radio Two tells fear to settle down and give his guardians and guards a break… But he’s part of our core as humans on Earth and is always ready to scream into that bullhorn with a direct line to the airwaves of Radio One of the brain! It is a practice in boundary setting that we choose daily to maintain through a development of habit where we listen closely to the soul more deeply and turn down the volume in order to hear fear less.
There is a healthy relationship fear can have when balanced with respect, responsibility and personal freedom. There is a certain magic that we encounter within ourselves, harkening back to that primordial combination that evolved us. The balance of respect, personal freedom and responsibility that rests in the soul’s knowing allows us to respect fear when we need it to survive, free ourselves from fear’s unnecessary incessant grip and hold fear accountable when it tries to overthrow this balance. And then we can listen to our soul deeply, for it will speak the truth.
When we experience fear-based reactive emotions of anger, frustration, bitterness and disappointment, that is our message to stop, breathe and rebalance, filtering the outside information that triggered the reaction through Radio Two of the soul. The soul will never lead us astray, and in this daily practice of filters and relearning to listen with our soul, we not only heal our traumas in this life and within the DNA we hold of our ancestors, but we can create boundaries that ensure that we are not receiving all the mess that the “overculture,” which profits from our fear, envelopes us with to ensure we are complying with their expectations. So in the practice of filtering fear through the quiet intuition of our soul, we are liberating ourselves to be the authentic human beings our souls embodied to be in this lifetime, which leads us to be deep, expansive, spiraling, pure compassionate magical beings of light, y’all.
I work with individuals and families to support reclaiming and expanding this light of their inner soul-knowing through a channeled system called Human Design, which offers individuated practices based on your personal being to begin turning down the fears of Radio One and tuning into the soul of Radio Two.
